Key message: “Cows are animals, right? Animals are natural. If the fields are green, we must be green too. The environment is green. So obviously we care for the environment.”

  • Put beautiful pictures in all your ads of happy cows on lush fields with flowers and butterflies together with happy farmers to cover up what is really happening on the muddy polluted fields and cramped cow stalls. Also, it’s a great cover up for the imported feed grains from the Amazon and other nice places
  • Use terms like carbon neutral, nature positive, or net-zero by 2050 – no one knows what that means anyway and they make you  sound ambitious and serious about dealing with the climate crisis.
  • Fund a “regenerative” pilot farm and make it your poster child – ignore your 9,000 industrial ones.
  • Blame the other guys. Everyone hates the dirty oil and gas industry and they don’t have pictures of cute animals. It’s easy to let them take the whole blame. And if that’s too difficult, just join them to sell sh**, I mean, “renewable” energy!
  • Hype up those electric motorbikes you’re trialling on your farm while conveniently not mentioning the obscene amounts of methane your cows belch.
